How Often Should Your Watch Be Serviced?

There is no universal rule, but as a general guide, mechanical watches benefit from a full service every 3 to 5 years. While some manufacturers suggest longer intervals under controlled conditions, real-world use — exposure to movement, moisture, and temperature — means your watch will thank you for more regular attention.

Quartz watches are lower maintenance by nature. When the battery runs out, bring it in and we will replace it promptly. We can also open the case for a full internal clean to keep it running reliably for years to come.

Assessment and Consultation

Every service begins with a conversation. Our watchmakers will listen to your concerns, examine the watch in detail, and run it on a timing machine to measure its accuracy. From there, we provide a clear, itemised quote — no surprises, no hidden costs.

Disassembly and Cleaning

We carefully disassemble the watch, inspecting each component for signs of wear or damage. The case, caseback, bracelet, and clasp are placed in an ultrasonic cleaner to remove years of accumulated grime before any further work begins.

Cleaning and Lubricating the Movement

Each movement component is processed through our Elmasolvex RM cleaning machine — a multi-stage system that thoroughly cleans every part. Our watchmakers then reassemble the movement by hand, applying the correct grade of oil and lubricant to each component as specified.

Testing and Quality Assurance

Once reassembled and cased, the watch undergoes a rigorous testing phase. We monitor it on a timing machine and automatic winder over several hours, checking power reserve, rate accuracy, and overall function before it is returned to you.
